Understanding the German Academic System is key to a successful accomplishment of a PhD at German universities, including the KIT. Since your assumptions about the nature of communication and collaboration within a German university might differ from the related expectations of your supervisor, colleagues and students, knowledge about such cultural aspects will thus greatly contribute to your successful completion of tasks in research and teaching at KIT. The goal of this workshop is thus to provide you with an understanding of academic traditions, requirements and expectations in German academic research and supervision. As a consequence, you will gain more confidence and reduce potential misunderstandings in conducting your work. Furthermore, this workshop will help to draw a clear picture about structures and career paths within German academia.
